In today’s global economy, projects must be managed with the skills of both leadership and management to be successful.  Management does not necessarily mean leadership, and vice versa.  How can a project manager differentiate when to use each skill how to balance these skills.  Practicing these use of both skills will enhance the skills of both the project manager and the team members. 

Leadership focuses the efforts of a team towards a common goal and inspires teams to work together.  It is the ability to accomplish goals, big and small, through others while winning respect, confidence, loyalty, cooperation, and commitment.  Management is a delicate balance of technical, human and conceptual skills, combined with principles and industry/project management best practices to meet defined objectives.  Most effective project managers are able to lead teams with confidence and prove to be good leaders over the course of their career.
